Shoes walking by themselves..

A really simple video of a can getting crushed.

This is my attempt to use garage band to create my own audio.

I’ve put a track over this short Alice In Wonderland film.

Here I trimmed out some scenes to make the film shorter and had to work with the audio to make it fit better.

I created this stop motion film by simply dripping coloured ink down a blank sheet of paper.  I decided I liked the effect of reversing the process.

Music- ‘Serious Underground Dance Vibes’ Twin Atlantic

(Considering remaking this as the images I took were a bit all over the place, would look better if the camera was held in the same place for all stills)

“Scattered Light” October 2010- 2011

A piece of public art by Jim Campbell that was displayed in Madison Square Park.

It is made from thousands of hanging LED lights.  These create shadows of figures that appear to be running through the park.

I like that the artist chose to show this piece over the winter as this is when there is least light and people can appreciate the shadows more.

“Hysteria” Sam Taylor Wood

Another video by Sam Taylor Wood.  Eight minutes of a woman slowly break down from hysterical laughter - hysterical crying.   She doesn’t seem to smoothly go from happy to sad, she mixes it up a bit.  This makes me think this could be a complete mental breakdown, is she a bit mad?

The lack of sound also interests me.  It looks like she should be making a lot of noise, but is silent.  If no one could see her, it would be as if it weren’t happening.

Both videos i’ve posted of hers so far have both been of thinks deteriorating.

“Still Life” (2001) by Sam Taylor Wood.

I really enjoy how simple this idea is, the artist didn’t actually do any of the work, the subject matter did this for her.

“The Raft” Bill Viola, 2004.

This video feels particularly strong considering the recent events (earthquake in Japan 11/03/2011, causing a tsunami)  It shows how strangers help each other in a crisis
